Distributor

Here is the Bosch distributor that Joe Virog mated to the DKW housing to make a much more efficient ignition system on the DKW engine.  The Bosch distributor was used on the SAAB 93 2 stroke sedan. The first trick was to find sources for new cap and rotor not an easy task to find a source.

Looking a bit rough at the moment.

Taking a look down from top of the rotor in the distributor. I have been able to purchase new caps, rotors and condenser and SAAB points. After disassemble and cleaning I found that the points were not SAAB. Joe Virog had brazed in a mounting plate into the distributor and used a completely different point. After much head scratching and talking with my old race car buddy Roger Barr who suggested to go to NAPA and look at the old catalogs. Problem solved luckily we had in Cocoa Beach an old NAPA store that still had the catalogs and let me search trough them ad nosuium and found that the point came out a BMW 1600. SO I ordered them in bulk.

So here is the restored distributor assembly awaiting mating back to the engine. All cleaned and ready to go with a new point in it. Spare caps and rotors in multiple are on the ready.

Taking a look into the business part of the SAAb distributor she is a pretty little thing.
